The California Governor's Office of Land Use and Climate Innovation (LCI) is opening a request for nominations to expand the California's Fifth Climate Change Assessment's (Fifth Assessment) Tribal Advisory Group. We are seeking Tribal participation from the Los Angeles, Inland Deserts, Central Coast, and San Francisco Bay regions.
The Tribal Advisory Group is a critical component of the Fifth Assessment that will help ensure Tribal expertise and Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) are respectfully and intentionally integrated into what has typically been a Western science dominated process. The Tribal Advisory Group will achieve this, by providing guidance and feedback on key pieces of the Fifth Assessment process, products, and Tribal Research Grant Program. The group strives to be as representative as possible of the diversity of Tribes in the state, including the many regions in California and expertise across a broad range of climate science and TEK. Structural details of the group will be Tribally informed and further defined based on Tribal consultation and engagement.
Members of the Tribal Advisory Group will be compensated for their participation at a rate of $100 per hour and reimbursed for travel requirements for in person meetings, conferences, and roll-out events. On average, Tribal Advisory Group members will commit around four-six hours per month to provide advisory council and review pertinent materials.
Tribal Advisory Group members should be nominated based on expertise and experience. Nominations should include:
- Name of individual, their title, their Tribal affiliation, and contact information for nominee and nominator
- Nominee Bio, Resume, or Curriculum Vitae
- Letter of recommendation for the nominee (preferably from a California Native American Tribe but may include Tribal organizations, Tribal consortia, and organizations that work for Tribes)
Please submit nominations by April 1, 2025 to:
