Federal Grants
The Governor’s Office of Land Use and Climate Innovation (LCI) provides technical assistance to state agencies, tribes, local governments, institutions of higher learning, nonprofit organizations, and other applicants and grantees on how to find, apply for, and manage federal grants.
By working with a statewide federal grant network—which includes primary points of contact at state agencies—LCI provides resources and assistance on all aspects of federal grants. We also identify new funding opportunities and facilitate trainings to help applicants and grantees pursue and manage federal grants. To find state grant opportunities in one centralized location, please visit the California State Grants Portal.
Review of Federal Programs
The LCI State Clearinghouse (SCH) serves as the state's Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for the review of federal assistance applications pursuant to Presidential Executive Order No. 12372. Notification of all federal assistance applications must be provided to the SCH pursuant to Assembly Bill No. 1348, which in turn publishes this information for review and comment by state and local elected officials. The State Administrative Manual (SAM) Section 0912 requires that California State departments submit new federal funds through the SCH and then through Finance through a DF-24 notification prior to applying for funds.
Notices of federal assistance applications can be submitted to the SCH through the Intergovernmental Review of Federal Programs website - also known as the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) Website. This platform provides access for State and local elected officials to review and comment on applications.
The SCH does not administer grant programs or offer any grant funding. Please visit grants.gov for federal funding opportunities and sam.gov for descriptions of federal funding programs.
